Typical and unmistakable is the brushstroke that Hedwig Bollhagen drew with a steady hand over cups and pots.

The shapes and decorations created by her are not just beautiful, they're just perfect.

Almost everything is straightforward, timeless everyday crockery, just as much in demand today as it was four, five or six decades ago. The ceramist, who died in 2001, was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit shortly before her death and has been celebrated as a pioneering designer and artist for many years to come. But she dismissed the cult around her as laconic, saying, "They are just fools."

We think they are simply the most beautiful pots for the eye to see and use.
